Mandatory 7-Day Home Quarantine For Mumbai Citizens Returning From UAE

All international passengers arriving from the United Arab Emirates to Mumbai, who are residents, will have to undergo a mandatory seven-day home quarantine, the city’s civic body said today, as airports across the world see a massive holiday rush despite fears over the Omicron variant.

As per the rules announced on 29 December:

  • If you are a resident of Mumbai arriving from the UAE, you will have to take an RT-PCR test upon landing, irrespective of whether you are fully vaccinated or not.
  • You will also have to undergo a seven-day mandatory home quarantine upon arrival.
  • A second test will be conducted on the seventh day of the quarantine. Those who test positive again will be shifted to an institutional quarantine.
  • If you are not a resident of Mumbai, you will be allowed to leave the airport without testing. Those living in any part of Maharashtra will not be allowed to take public transport to travel by land. Instead, the passengers will be transported to their cities of residence by the state collector. Maharashtra has also mandated that those headed to any other state from Mumbai will have to inform their home states about their arrival from the emirate.
