Budget 2023: Tourism sector to be promoted on mission mode, focus on developing 50 destinations

The Union Budget for 2023-2024 was announced earlier today and here are the key takeaways:

India offers “immense attraction” for domestic as well as foreign tourists and promotion of tourism will be taken up on mission mode. 50 tourist destinations will be selected through challenge mode to be developed as a whole package for domestic and international tourism.

Tourism boards across other Indian states will be encouraged to set a ‘unity mall’ in state capital or the most popular tourist destination in the state for the promotion and sale of ‘One District, One product’ and GI products and other handicraft.

Fifty additional airports, heliports, water aerodromes and advanced landing grounds will be revived for improving regional air connectivity.

Besides, from a strategic point of view, border tourism is being given huge importance. “To encourage tourism in the border villages, tourism infrastructure and amenities will be facilitated under the Vibrant Villages Programme,”

Additionally as part of the the Dekho Apna Desh scheme, created a unique website as well as a toll-free helpline number to assist travelers.

Railway Budget 2023 Highlights: Makeover of 1,275 railway stations; Vande Bharat production at 3 more places

A budget of Rs 2.40 lakh crore has been allocated for the Indian Railways in the Union Budget 2023-24.

Announcements were made to redevelop 1,275 railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat scheme. Some of the major station under the redevelopment stage are – New Delhi, CSMT, Puri etc. Four hundred new-generation Vande Bharat Express trains will be developed and manufactured during the next three years. More funds will also be provided for new Vande Bharat trains and Vande Bharat 2.0 with sleeper class.

With the introduction of Vande Bharat Express trains, the Indian Railways has entered into a new era of mobility. After Rajdhani Express trains, the Vande Bharat Express is a major transformation in terms of speed and better convenience. The train can achieve a maximum speed of 160-180 kmph due to its faster acceleration and deceleration. Travelling on the blue and white colour train will reduce the journey time by 25 percent to 45 percent.
