World’s oldest pearl town, dating back to 6th century, discovered in UAE

If reports are to go by, archaeologists have revealed that they have found the oldest pearling town in the Persian Gulf on an island of the United Arab Emirates.

The said pearling town is nestled on Siniyah Island, which shields the Khor al-Beida marshlands in Umm al-Quwain, an emirate situated around 50 km northeast of Dubai. As per the records, archaeologists found a variety of homes made of lime mortar, and beach rocks, ranging from sprawling homes with courtyards to cramped quarters, which suggest that there must have been some kind of social stratification going on at that time. Power however added that the site also bears signs of year-round habitation.Plus, archaeologists have discovered pearls in the homes here, along with diving weights, meaning that the free divers used to quickly go down to the seabed while relying only on their held breath.

Uttarakhand all set to open 15 less-explored jungle trails for trekkers from April

Uttarakhand will soon open less-explored jungle trails for trekkers and visitors in the region. From least explored trek trails in dense coniferous forests of Chakrata to geological excursion at 1000 ft in Kharamba, and stargazing in Molta, the Uttarakhand forest department is all geared up to offer unique trekking experiences to travellers this summer.

Some of these sites will include little-known places like Naada, Konain, Kudog, Daragad, Budher, Jakh, Deoban, Mundali, Kahtiyan and Kanasar. The process will start with a 65-km-long trail, named Thadiyar March, which was developed by the British to educate young forest service probationers about forestry nuances; it will be modified and opened to the public, tentatively from April. The trail will take you through picturesque hills with elevations ranging from 542 m to 3,067m in the Chakrata area.

Soon, Vande Bharat Express train to operate between Delhi-Jaipur

Vande Bharat Express will likely be introduced on the Delhi-Jaipur route, as per a circular by the North Western Railway (NWR) zone. If all goes as planned, the train will start operations from the 3rd week of March 2023. The journey from Delhi to Jaipur will take less than 2 hours, making it one of the fastest modes of transport between the two cities.

If the Indian Railways manages to start operations of the Delhi-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express in the next week, it will become the 11th Vande Bharat train service. As per the records, this semi-high speed premium train already runs on 10 routes across the Indian Railways network – New Delhi-Varanasi, New Delhi-Katra, New Delhi-Amb Andaura, Gandhinagar-Mumbai, Nagpur-Bilaspur, Chennai-Mysuru, Mumbai-Shirdi, Mumbai-Solapur, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam, and Howrah-New Jalpaiguri.
