It is interesting how often we have come across a salad that is either named after their creators, or the regions they originated from. Our Spanish tomato salad dish for today proudly wears the name of its birthplace. Murcia is the capital city of a region in Spain popularly known as the Huerta de Murcia, which is a fertile plain also known as the orchard of Europe because of the large variety of fruits and vegetables that this fertile land produces every year. The Ensalada Murciana is essentially a salad centered around the lovely special tomatoes grown in this region.

A very simple and rustic salad made of tomatoes (drained) ad onions, boiled eggs, and tuna (preferable canned tunas in olive oil) – with olive oil drizzle and salt for seasoning, it is a popular summer dish in Spain and served across tapas cafes across the country. Of course, the real authentic taste comes from the Murcian tomatoes, and hence getting the authentic flavor outside Spain is a little difficult since access to the special tomatoes is near impossible. But we do hope that as soon as Spain becomes safe for travel again, we will be able to savor this refreshing summer salad in all its glorious flavor like spanish tomato salad

Orchards in bloom. Blossoming, blooming of fruit trees in the Cieza Murcia region. Green mountains, moody sky, and field with pink flowers. Idyllic beautiful scenery. Peach, plum, and nectarine trees. Spain salad.
