Nabisco is launching a Chocolate Hazelnut flavor, so it’s basically like you’re eating Nutella cookies (and what could be better than that?).

If this flavor sounds familiar, you’re probably thinking of the limited-edition variety that came out in 2018. Those, however, had a Chocolate Hazelnut creme sandwiched between two Golden Oreos. The new version will have the classic chocolate cookies that are stuffed with Chocolate Hazelnut creme, so there’s even more chocolate this time around.

The Oreo team has confirmed that the Chocolate Hazelnut cookies — and the Java Chip variety — will be hitting stores in January 2021. Yes, that seems like it’s forever away, but at least we’ll have a couple tasty treats waiting for us after the holiday season. Plus, they’ll both be joining Oreo’s line of permanent flavors, so we’ll take them as a belated Christmas gift.

Did You Know?

Oreos made their debut, at the Nabisco factory in New York on March 6, 1912. The sandwich cookies were originally available in two flavors: lemon meringue and cream. The cream-filled chocolate biscuits were Nabisco’s more popular offering, but they kept the lemon meringue flavor on the market until the 1920s when they dropped it in favor of the combination we all know today. Oreo has since then become the best-selling cookie with more than 491 billion Oreo cookies sold to date worldwide. The United States, China, Venezuela, Canada, and Indonesia are the top five countries in terms of sales.

Also New York’s 15th Street at Ninth Avenue is called Oreo Way because that is the birthplace of this delicious treat.
