In 2023, Japan’s tourist numbers rebounded to 80% of their pre-pandemic levels, prompting Hanshin Contents Link Corporation to launch “The Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka” for immersive cultural experiences centered on sumo wrestling.

Hanshin Contents Link Corporation recently announced the grand opening of The Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka, situated on the 8th floor of NAMBA Parks in the lively Namba district of Osaka. This new attraction, easily accessible from Namba Station, offers an immersive sumo entertainment experience, blending traditional Japanese culture with modern entertainment. In 2023, Japan welcomed back 80% of its pre-pandemic tourist numbers, with a growing interest in experiential consumption, particularly in Japan’s unique traditional culture and cuisine. To cater to this demand, Hanshin Contents Link Corporation opened “The Sumo Hall Hirakuza Osaka,” providing a new cultural attraction for foreign tourists to engage with Japanese culture.

The immersive sumo shows feature performances by former professional sumo wrestlers, interactive sessions, and photo opportunities. Visitors can enjoy a unique blend of sumo, food, and entertainment, including traditional bento boxes with premium, halal, and vegan meal options. The state-of-the-art facility boasts a full-size dohyo (sumo ring), theater-style seating, advanced video, lighting, and sound systems, and a gift shop offering sumo merchandise and Japanese souvenirs.

Responding to the rising interest in Japan’s unique cultural experiences among international tourists, Hanshin Contents Link Corporation uses its entertainment expertise to create a venue that showcases sumo wrestling. This initiative aims to boost local tourism and provide unforgettable cultural experiences. The sumo show, conducted in English, features spectacular and intense performances by former sumo wrestlers, according to a statement by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
