To spotlight affordable destinations, insights from the 18th annual Post Office Travel Money’s ‘Holiday Money Report’ are invaluable. This study considers currency fluctuations and the local prices of essential items to identify the most economical destinations.
This study takes into account fluctuations in currency value relative to sterling, along with the local prices of eight tourist essentials (coffee, beer, cola, wine, water, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a three-course meal), to ascertain the most cost-effective destinations.

Tokyo’s fourth-place ranking may raise eyebrows, but the figures speak for themselves – a glass of wine in the Japanese capital costs only £3.62 (€4.22, $4.57), and a bottle of water? Just 61p (71¢, 77¢).
