National French Fry Day (yes, that’s a thing) is happening tomorrow on July 13 and in celebration, iconic New York City restaurant Serendipity3 is bringing back one of its most coveted menu items: the most expensive French fries in the world.
Crafted by chef Joe Calderone, the creative director of Serendipity3, and chef Frederick Schoen-Kiewert, the restaurant’s corporate executive chef, the $200 fries are made with Chipperbeck potatoes that are thrice cooked in pure goose fat from Southwest France. The veggies are then immersed in Dom Perignon Champagne and J. LeBlanc French Champagne Ardenne vinegar, topped with shaved Crete Senesi pecorino tartufello and black summer truffles from Italy and seasoned with Guerande truffle salt. They are then served with Mornay sauce, which is made with Udder cream, black truffle butter, Gruyere truffled Swiss raclette and—wait for it!—sprinkled with 23K edible gold dust. As a grand finale, the fries are served on a very expensive Baccarat crystal arabesque plate. Suddenly, the price tag and coveted Guinness-approved accolade make total sense.

Starbucks to include masala chai, filter coffee to menu

To woo more Indian customers, Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee chain, has decided to add ‘masala chai’ and ‘filter coffee’ to its menu, according to a media report. The company is busy revamping its menu for the last couple of weeks to further suit the Indian palate. Starbucks has already added street-style sandwiches and milkshakes, according to the report.
The popular coffee chain also has ‘chole paneer kulcha’ and ‘turmeric latte’ on its menu. The new items in the meny is currently being tested in four markets – Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Bhopal and Indore. The items will be launched countrywide based on the feedback gathered from these cities.

On the menu you’ll find fresh, seasonal patisserie with classic British summertime flavours, served on – you guessed it – pink Jimmy Choo crockery. Think mini Victoria sponge cakes, chocolate-raspberry mousse cubes and strawberry éclairs – all picture perfect and finished with an edible JC logo. It’s not all sweet treats – ideal for a quick lunch, the café is also serving a selection of mini sandwiches, as well as open-faced ‘Choux Crostini’ topped with fresh mozzarella or beet-cured salmon.
