Kolkata to host Literature Festival based only on Sweets

Sweets have always been an integral part of Bengal’s life and culture; it has found wide mention across various cultural genres, from literature to cinema. Whether it is a debate over who invented the rosogolla or which shop makes the tastiest sandesh, the sweetmeat known as mishti is a source of pride, fond memories, and fierce debates among Bengalis both in Bengal and beyond. And the Jugal’s Literature Festival in Kolkata seeks to bring together the love for sweets into one single event.

It will feature a series of panel discussions, open house forums, art and photo exhibitions, spoken word performances and workshops—centred around all things mishti. There will also be demonstrations on sweet making with just two ingredients—milk and sugar and tastings to explore the varied textures of mishti.
