In the idol, the ‘Asur’ was replaced by two street dogs who were seen praying for shelter before Maa Durga, showcasing the theme of ‘Shelter for pets’. Also, the ‘Asur’ has been depicted riding a motorcycle and crushing the small puppies under its wheel. It represents those people, who hate pets and torture street dogs. This year Durga Puja begins on October 1 with Maha Shashti and will end on October 5 with Maha Dasami.

Himachal removes ban on river rafting and paragliding but imposes a ban on trekking

Himachal Pradesh has finally lifted the ban on water and aero sports. Now travellers can enjoy paragliding and river rafting like before. However, those wishing to go on a trekking expedition on high-altitude mountains can’t do so as such activity has been banned for the time being.

For those who don’t know, Himachal imposes a ban from July to mid-September (every year) on paragliding because of the monsoons. As far as trekking is concerned, the activity will remain banned in the state until further notice as the higher peaks have already started experiencing snowfall and a significant fall in temperature has also been noticed. Recently, there were many incidents where trekkers were stranded, and the state had to intervene. Hence, a ban has been imposed on trekking on mountains and passes above 15000 ft.
