World’s longest passenger train measuring 1.2 miles breaks record in Swiss Alps

The world’s longest passenger train completed a spectacular, world record-setting journey in the Swiss Alps, a railway company announced. The 1.2-mile-long train with 100 coaches ventured 15.5 miles on Saturday through mountains, tunnels and across bridges to claim the record for the world’s longest passenger train, Swiss railway company Rhaetian Railway said in a statement.

Seven train drivers and 21 technicians operated the train as it rode from the Albula Tunnel in Preda to the Landwasser Viaduct just outside Filisur along the famous Albula-Bernina route, a UNESCO World Heritage designation, ending in Bergün. The previous record was set in Belgium by the National Belgian Railway Company in 1991, according to Euro News.

Ain Dubai wheel to remain closed throughout winter as enhancement works continue

Ain Dubai will remain closed throughout the winter months. Standing at 250m high, the Ain Dubai observation wheel has become an iconic landmark of the Dubai skyline since its opening in October 2021. With incredible views over JBR, the Dubai Marina and beyond, the enormous steel structure is now synonymous with Bluewaters Island.

This news is undoubtedly disappointing to visiting tourists and residents who have not yet been on a trip around the world’s largest observation wheel.

Virgin Australia is giving away prizes to people choosing the middle seat!

Flying has always been a costly affair, but imagine the feeling when you get the middle seat. The disappointment of not being able to enjoy the window view, nor getting an easy access to the lavatory, makes the middle seat the least desirable spot to choose on a flight. Virgin Australia has launched its Middle Seat Lottery with over $230,000 worth of prizes; thereby making the unlucky seat the most desirable seat!

Reports have it that each week, a different prize will be awarded to the winner of a lucky draw. And among the innovative gifts that the airlines has on offer will be a full day helicopter pub crawl, a two-night holiday in Cairns, including flights, a bungee jump, and much more.
