Now Experience Cycle Safaris At Pench Tiger Reserve

Pench national park has launched a cycle safari for those who want to experience the forest in a different way.

Visitors to the Pench Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra now have the exciting opportunity to embark on a novel adventure known as the cycle safari. Previously, the Pench National Park and Tiger Reserve exclusively offered jeep and canter safaris. The introduction of the cycle safari not only adds an element of thrill to the experience but also contributes positively to the environment.

This new attraction has been introduced in the Kolitmara range of the West Pench region. The cycle safari route covers a picturesque 48-kilometer stretch from Kolitmara to Kunwara Bhivsen, leading visitors through the enchanting forested landscapes of Narhar, Banera, and Chargaon.

Pench Tiger Reserve is renowned for its population of tigers, as well as other fascinating wildlife such as leopards and sloth bears. However, prospective cyclists need not fret about venturing into the core areas of the reserve. The Kolitmara range offers a tranquil and scenic environment that is ideal for cycling enthusiasts.

For those who bring their own bicycles, a safari fee of INR 100 per person will be charged. Alternatively, visitors renting cycles from the Pench Tiger Reserve can expect to pay INR 300 per day per person. Each cycle safari group will consist of two to six individuals, and the services of an experienced guide can be arranged for an additional fee of INR 1000 per group.

The cycle safari made its debut with great enthusiasm on August 20, 2023, with around 80 participants of all age groups taking part in this inaugural event.

This cycle safari provides an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of Pench. The safari route traverses some of the most captivating landscapes in the region, winding through lush forests and picturesque valleys. In contrast to concerns about the environmental impact of jeep safaris, the cycle safari offers an eco-friendly alternative.

Moreover, the current monsoon season enhances the allure of the Pench forests, making them exceptionally captivating. Pench, with its dense forest cover, provides a remarkable setting for visitors to relish the woodland environment and spot various species of birds.

Kolitmara, situated alongside the Pench River, is one of the most scenic spots within the reserve, promising a potential dimension of river tourism in this unique adventure.
