Sun Siyam Vilu Reef has officially reopened the doors to its iconic Nautilus Bar following a stunning renovation, inviting guests to rediscover one of the resort’s most scenic and serene spaces. The transformed venue draws inspiration from the organic curves of the nautilus shell and the essence of relaxed island luxury, now more refined and welcoming than ever before. With a fresh new design and elevated ambiance, Nautilus Bar is set to once again become the go-to destination for sunset cocktails and evening gatherings under the stars.
Positioned elegantly above the clear turquoise lagoon, the redesigned Nautilus Bar offers panoramic Indian Ocean views in an atmosphere that seamlessly blends barefoot sophistication with natural beauty. From handcrafted cocktails and tropical small plates to nourishing smoothies and decadent milkshakes, the menu reflects the bar’s new identity: a space where indulgence meets serenity. Each offering has been carefully selected to enhance the guest experience and connect with the island’s tranquil rhythm.
“Nautilus Bar is one of those magical places where time naturally slows down,” said Mr. Thoha Yoosuf, Resort Manager at Sun Siyam Vilu Reef. “With the ocean stretching endlessly into the horizon, guests can enjoy the simple pleasures of island life—whether it’s relaxing in a hammock, sipping a perfectly balanced drink, or watching the sun dip below the sea. It truly embodies the soul of Vilu Reef and remains one of my favourite spots on the island.”

The new look was crafted by acclaimed interior design studio Studio Sixty7, led by Jose Rivero and Lee McNichol. Their vision focused on harmonizing the easygoing spirit of Maldivian island life with touches of modern elegance.
“Our approach was to create a space that feels like a luxurious retreat but still grounded in the barefoot charm of the Maldives,” shared Lee and Jose, Founders and Creative Directors of Studio Sixty7. “From oversized lounge chairs and low-slung sofas to the organically sculpted bar set against white plaster walls, every detail was designed for comfort and visual appeal. We used Calacatta marble, bespoke joinery, and dramatic rope pendants to add a refined touch, while keeping the aesthetic relaxed and inviting.”
A standout feature of the refreshed space is the expanded deck, complete with new hanging nets and pops of vibrant aqua that contrast beautifully against the soft, neutral palette. This thoughtful design ensures guests can soak in the surrounding views while experiencing a true sense of calm.
Whether you’re looking for an early evening aperitif, a peaceful hammock retreat, or a quiet drink beneath the stars, the revitalised Nautilus Bar is the perfect setting to unwind, reconnect, and savour the essence of Maldivian luxury.
