Uttarakhand Tourism Department Launches Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Darshan by Helicopter Package

The ambitious initiative aims to promote Winter Tourism in the Himalayan hinterland under the Vibrant Village program providing employment opportunity to locals.

On April 1, 2024, the first Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Darshan package trip concluded successfully. Sixteen tourists hailing from Delhi, Maharashtra, Orissa, Gujarat, and various other states embarked on this inaugural journey. The package encompasses hotel pickup and drop-off in Pithoragarh, a two-hour helicopter ride providing aerial views of Adi Kailash, Om Parvat, and several other peaks, followed by breakfast. Traditional rituals including Aarti, Tikka, and garlanding welcomed the tourists, accompanied by traditional chants.

Shri Sachin Kurve, Secretary of Tourism and CEO of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, lauded this occasion as a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering tourism in the state’s remote regions, thereby generating employment opportunities for the local residents. He emphasized that through this innovative tourism offering, the state aims to promote ‘High Value Low Volume’ tourism, in alignment with the Government of India’s Vibrant Village Program (VVP).

This new tourism initiative is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of local population by fostering sustainable livelihood opportunities. The helicopter operations will promote tourism in the region during the winter months coinciding with the observed transhumance phenomenon in the valley. This visionary project represents the Government’s unwavering commitment to providing accessibility and economic empowerment to the inhabitants of this majestic Himalayan region during the winter season, while simultaneously promoting Aero tourism in the State.

Starting from April 15, 2024, a 4-night/5-day package is set to kick off. It features an overnight stay in Pithoragarh for one night, followed by three nights in Gunji/Nabhi/Nepalchu.
