Where barefoot luxury meets ocean-kissed romance — an idyllic Maldivian retreat for honeymoons, family escapes and unforgettable milestone celebrations.
Visiting the Maldives wasn’t exactly on my 2025 Bingo card. But when an invitation arrived from Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, curiosity swiftly turned into confirmation. And what a decision that was. Set in the heart of the Noonu Atoll, this expansive island sanctuary has recently taken pride of place in the Sun Siyam group’s reimagined Luxury Collection — and it wears the crown effortlessly. Powder-white beaches dissolve into lagoons of an almost implausible blue; villas drift between the deep green hush of tropical jungle and the shimmer of open water; and the air carries that particular Maldivian quality — unhurried, intoxicating, entirely its own — that makes the rest of the world feel very far away indeed.
Location
While most guests arrive via a cinematic 45-minute seaplane glide from Velana International Airport (MLE), my journey unfolded a little differently. After two indulgent nights at sister property Sun Siyam World, also in the Noonu Atoll, I skimmed across turquoise waters by speedboat — a seamless twin-centre escape that felt less like a transfer and more like a gentle overture.
First Impressions

Romance here is wrapped in sunlight and delivered with quiet, confident luxury. Set across 52 acres of untouched island beauty in the Noonu Atoll, this all-inclusive sanctuary exudes a polished ease where refinement never feels forced. Understated opulence meets authentic Maldivian warmth, creating a world where every detail is designed for intimacy — where the ocean becomes your clock, and indulgence is not an occasion but a constant.
It is an island escape tailored for lovers and honeymooners, yet expansive enough to welcome families seeking elevated seclusion. Days may unfold through curated experiences, or in the most decadent way possible — doing absolutely nothing. Picture yourself beneath a swaying palm, the horizon stretching endlessly before you, surrendering to a castaway fantasy where time pauses, privacy is paramount, and luxury feels deeply personal.
The Rooms
Accommodation at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi unfolds across 221 villas, including 81 overwater villas with outdoor hot tubs, each poised above the lagoon. The beach villas, inspired by traditional Maldivian architecture with thatched roofs made from dried coconut leaves, are discreetly tucked just off the shoreline, offering direct access to the sands and a feeling of complete privacy — most with their own pool. Shaded cabanas and private plunge pools enhance the beach experience, while the overwater retreats open directly onto crystalline waters.

From the Horizon Water Villa with Pool to the Family Deluxe Beach Villa, every category features indulgent comforts: a Bose sound system, i-Spa facilities, and a personal butler on call.
We stayed in an Over Water Villa with a pool, where the magnificent ocean views stretched endlessly before us. Open-plan interiors face the ocean, while spacious bathrooms feature bathtubs overlooking the lagoon. Private decks are layered with lounging areas, hammocks and intimate corners in soft green hues, creating a relaxed yet polished feel. Horizon Water Villas now include a 22 sqm private pool with sunken seating, ideal for sunrise swims and sunset moments. For couples and honeymooners, personalised touches add an extra note of romance.
For something even more expansive, the Celebrity Retreat (sleeps 10) and the Aqua and Hidden Retreats (sleep six) offer a grander scale of island living.
Things To Do
At just 800 metres long across 52 acres, the island can be circled in under half an hour — yet it never feels anything but secluded. Despite being one of the Maldives’ larger resorts, it retains an intimate, hideaway atmosphere, ideal for honeymooners and couples seeking privacy, while still offering enough activity for families. Dedicated adults-only areas ensure space for uninterrupted calm and romance.

The setting itself is part of the experience. Coconut palms, sculptural screw pines, dramatic banyan trees, and bursts of hibiscus and bougainvillea line sandy pathways that weave between villas and shared spaces. Along the shore, clusters of magoo fai (sea lettuce) complete a landscape that feels lush, layered, and unmistakably tropical.
Wellness takes centre stage at The Spa by Thalgo France, recognised as the largest spa in the Maldives, with 20 flower-named treatment rooms and more than 140 therapies. From the coconut-infused Maldivian Spa Experience to Ayurvedic Shirodhara and the deep-pressure Iru Power Massage, it is a sanctuary designed for complete restoration.
For something unforgettable, book the Sunset Dolphin Cruise. As the sky turns blush-pink, pods of spinner dolphins race alongside the boat, leaping and spinning in effortless arcs.

Families are thoughtfully catered to, with the Nemo Garden underwater park offering lagoon pools for children and adults alike. Nearby, the Koamas Kidz Club and Sweet Pea Spa ensure younger guests are just as indulged.
For something equally captivating, snorkel at the reef drop-off — a short speedboat ride away — where sunlight glimmers through clear waters, revealing clownfish (real-life Nemo), royal blue tang, parrotfish and surgeonfish in a reef that feels like a living jewel box.
Dining Experiences

Dining at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is less a hotel convenience and more a curated indulgence. With 15 restaurants and bars, many included within the all-inclusive offering, the island unfolds as a globe-trotting culinary escape.
At Islander’s Grill, Maldivian seafood takes centre stage, flame-kissed and served steps from the shore. Bamboo explores refined Asian flavours, while Flavours channels classic French finesse. The Trio, set dramatically over water, delivers Italian cuisine in an award-winning setting where the ocean is as much a companion as the menu.
For something intimate and theatrical, reserve one of just 12 seats at Teppanyaki on the Beach Terrace. Here, Japanese iron-griddle dining becomes performance art, with chefs crafting sushi and searing dishes before you in a display that is as precise as it is captivating.

Two of the island’s bars are woven into poolside settings. Reflections, with its striking infinity pool facing the ocean, is reserved for adults — an elegant address for unhurried sundowners. Then there is the Bubble Lounge, an overwater champagne bar designed for golden-hour reverie. From seafood grills to live teppanyaki and indulgent scoops at La Cremeria, every meal feels like a passport stamped — without ever leaving the island.
For honeymooners, newly engaged couples, or those marking milestone anniversaries, romance here is curated in the most luxurious way. Think private sundowners for two as the sky turns molten gold, or a floating breakfast served on your secluded deck — intimate, unhurried moments designed entirely around celebration and love.
The Service

In a destination defined by natural beauty, what truly sets a resort apart is how it makes you feel. Here, attentive, well-coordinated service elevates the stay, with a large team ensuring guests are consistently cared for without ever feeling overwhelmed. Everything runs smoothly and punctually, delivered with warmth and an easy sincerity.
From the moment you arrive, a multi-lingual butler becomes your personal point of contact, quietly managing arrangements and requests. It’s a style of hospitality that feels polished yet personal — thoughtful details handled with genuine grace.
Sustainability
At Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, sustainability feels considered rather than performative. There is a conscious effort to root the experience in its surroundings — with fruit and vegetables cultivated on two neighbouring farming islands and local fishermen supplying the resort’s restaurants. In keeping with Maldivian law, single-use plastic is banned, and the house reef remains a protected sanctuary, free from fishing.
The island’s commitment extends beneath the surface through its Coral Restoration Project, led by marine biologist Mohamed Shah. Guests are invited to participate in nurturing young coral fragments — a quietly powerful experience, particularly for families — helping safeguard the fragile reef systems that sustain the luminous marine life encircling this pristine atoll.
Investment

The Horizon Water Villa with Pool begins at approximately $1,690 per night (approx. ₹1,52,000, at USD 1 ≈ ₹90) for double occupancy on a fully inclusive basis.
The rate covers all meals, unlimited beverages — including champagne — and applicable taxes. Select water sports, curated excursions, and seaplane transfers are charged separately.
Transfers
Arrival can be tailored to preference. A seaplane transfer from Malé begins at US$470 (approx. ₹42,300) return per adult and US$240 (approx. ₹21,600) per child.
Alternatively, a domestic flight to Maafaru followed by a speedboat transfer starts from US$320 (approx. ₹28,800) per adult and US$165 (approx. ₹14,850) per child.
Rates are indicative and may vary by season and availability.

At Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, luxury unfolds with a distinctly romantic cadence. It lives in the hush of overwater mornings, in champagne-tinted sunsets viewed from a private deck, and in the quiet assurance that every detail has been considered. The island balances scale with seclusion, indulgence with intimacy — creating a setting where love feels elevated, yet entirely effortless. For those seeking a Maldivian escape that pairs polished comfort with heartfelt moments, this is where grandeur softens into something beautifully personal.
