Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority embarks on a three-city roadshow in India

Mauritius is keen to get back to pre-pandemic level of tourism and wants India, one of its key source markets after Europe, to help it achieve full recovery this year. This was revealed by The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority’s (MTPA) Director Mr Arvind Bundhun, who is currently in India to meet with key travel trade stakeholders, industry partners and media to provide information on new tourism offerings in Maurituis.

Elaborating on plans for the Indian market, Mr. Arvind Bundhun, Director, of Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority said, “The strong mutual partnership which forged between the Indian Travel Trade and that of Mauritian travel partners for years, is clearly visible. With excellent airlift from both Air Mauritius and Vistara, Mumbai, Delhi and other key cities within India are more accessible than ever. India is a great source Market for Mauritius, and we are very optimistic for the future. We are putting lots of impetus on the Indian market, our topmost priority.

Our future objectives will require ‘permanent bonds’ between both partners, and we will ensure that Mauritius as a high-end destination meets the aspirational demand of the Indian travellers.” He further added.

Besides its popular offerings in the sun and sand space, Mr. Arvind Bundhun also highlighted Mauritius’s attractiveness in golf tourism, efforts to attract Indian filmmakers to film in their island, as a destination for family holidays as well as MICE activities, weddings and adventure tourism as Mauritius open up the interiors of its island to allow tourists to discover its pristine forests, lakes, rivers, hills, nature and more.

“Mauritius positions itself as a green tourism destination and has committed to develop sustainable activities and leisure during the past years.” He added.

Mr Arvind Bundhun is currently leading a delegation comprising 24 operators from Mauritius to conduct a 3 cities road show in Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad.

The first event has kickstarted on Monday 21 August amidst a plethora of the key travel trade and media in Mumbai at the Four Seasons.

With increased connectivity between the two countries, this roadshow is an important platform for our local stakeholders to meet, bond and conduct business with the Indian travel trade. we are further directing our strategy through innovative trade, marketing and digital campaigns which will give Indian travelers the true essence of the destination. Mauritius is a year-round destination, and we invite you to feel our island energy”’.

This roadshow is expected to propel Mauritius’ presence in the Indian market as a destination for all segments: couples, families as well as MICE and weddings. The Chennai roadshow will be graced by the Presence of H.E. Mr Haymandoyal Dillum, High Commissioner of the Republic of Mauritius to the Republic of India, he stated.

Mr Sunil Mathapati, Country Manager, MTPA India added, “We are delighted to execute the three-city roadshow with MTPA, and our partners from Mauritius have added immense support for the event. Over 450 Indian B2B partners are expected to attend the roadshow across the three cities. This roadshow marks not just a celebration of a beautiful destination, but also a celebration of human resilience during the pandemic and its swift emergence of recovery positioning itself as a destination for all seasons and traveller segments.”
